Frequently asked questions
How does scene detection work?
The tool samples the video at regular steps and compares each frame with the previous one (colors and pixels). A big jump means a cut, so a new scene starts. Raise the sensitivity to catch soft cuts, lower it if camera motion creates false scenes.
Which video formats are supported?
Any format your browser can play: MP4 (H.264), WebM and usually MOV. Very long or 4K videos work but take longer to scan.
Does it detect fades and dissolves?
Hard cuts are detected best. Slow fades may be missed: use "Precise" scan and a higher sensitivity, or switch to a frame every N seconds.
Is the Video to Frames free?
Yes. The Video to Frames is completely free to use, with no sign-up and no limits on normal use.
Is my data safe?
Yes. This tool runs entirely in your web browser using JavaScript. Your files are never uploaded to our servers.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes, it works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. No app to install.
